Otters 2016-17

Otters Class Blog 13.1.17

This Term we had a Stunning Start when we discovered a nest of huge eggs in our Forest Area.  We investigated and hunted for clues to find out where they had come from.  Mrs Burt contacted a Professor at the ‘Natural History Museum’.  Professor Bartholomew Smythe visited us and checked on the eggs.  He informed us that they were Dragon Eggs!  The Professor told us how to look after the eggs and this Monday the Dragon’s hatched.

Our Dragon is a boy and is called Shimmer.  He is visiting us all, one by one to see what we get up to when we are not at home.

This week we have read the book ‘Tell Me A Dragon’ and in art we sketched a dragon from the book.  We coloured it using pastels.  We also painted pebbles to make them look like dragon’s eggs.

In our music session this week we listened to different percussion instruments and decided which would work best for the egg hatching, for the first sounds a dragon might make and for a flying dragon.  For literacy  we wrote some sentences to describe a dragon using conjunctions and expanded noun phrases.

In maths we have looked at partitioning two and three digit numbers.
