Class 3 – Caterpillars 2015-16

Caterpillars Class Blog 13.5.16

This week we began by learning that minibeasts have 3 main parts – a head, a thorax and an abdomen. We used a website where we could generate our own minibeast by choosing parts of other minibeasts bodies.

image001After reading ‘Superworm’ we thought about what super powers our new minibeast could have.

‘We then planned a story about our super minibeast using a story S.’ Ava

‘My minibeast had laser eyes which broke the web for the ladybird to escape.’ Charlotte.

‘My minibeast could fly at 10 miles per hour.’ Chester

‘My minibeast could pop its eyes out!’ Owen

‘We have learnt about a butterfly’s life cycle.’ Phoebe

‘Me and Albie made one on Purple Mash on the computer during our challenge time.’ Jack

‘A caterpillar changes into a chrysalis before it changes into a butterfly.’Arabella

We all learned that the word METAMORPHOSIS means to change.

Ava enjoyed making a minibeast picture on the computer in Golden Time

In Maths we have been learning to group objects together.

image003‘We played Bingo. Mrs Burt drew the groups out and we had to match it to a times table number sentence.’ Harry

‘We have been doing our 2, 5 and 10 times table.’ Luke

Layla has been working with Mrs Blogg in Golden Time and has been thinking about how to help somebody if they fall from a ladder. She has learnt how to put people in the recovery position. A very good skill to have Layla.

We also all enjoyed another Reading café this week. Unfortunately the weather was not very kind to us but it was perfect for worm charming! We read the book ‘The Incredible Worm’ by Daniel Postgate and then completed worm related activities – worm charming, spaghetti worm painting, making book’worm’ bookmarks, cheerio worms, measuring worms and how many gummy worms can you feed to a blackbird in a minute?
