image002This half term our topic is called ‘In the Attic.’ We have been looking at bats and spiders as these might be things we could find in an Attic.

Luke has enjoyed making a non-fiction book about bats and spiders. ‘I had to look in my book to find words to go in my index and then I put them in alphabetical order.’

‘Now we have finished our book we have checked the success criteria.’ (Nell)

‘I found out that tarantulas have poor eyesight.’ (Owen)

Also this week it is Diwali.

‘Hindu people celebrate this festival.’ (Millie)

‘They remember the story of Rama and Sita.’(Harry)

‘We made Diva lamps’ (Taylor)

‘We made sausage shapes out of the clay and curled it round to make the sides of the pot.’ (Jack)

In Maths we have been finding half of shapes and numbers. Nell and Chloe both achieved GOLD with their work on finding half of numbers. During their challenge activity they decided to write a list of numbers they thought could be halved and those they thought they wouldn’t be able to. When it came to their maths session the girls worked through their lists using cubes to see if they were correct. Outstanding Learning girls! Well done!

We have also tried to see if we could take the Jaffa Cake challenge and in one bite find exactly half of a Jaffa Cake. It is harder than you think so we may have to have more Jaffa Cakes and try again……and again……and again…..and again….

Today was also our Children in Need Ramble. We wore our Pudsey ears or headbands and walked down the cycle path to the Junior School, around their school field and back to school around our own field. As a school we raised £400!!!
