Aspirations Week 2015

From June 29th – July 3rd the children at SWIS experienced a special week of visits, visitors and activities all linked to their aspirations for the future.

On Monday, we had a “People Who Help Us” day and parents who worked at the hospital, for the Fire Service and the local PCSO all came into school to talk to the children about their jobs. The children found out about being a consultant, a surgeon and a midwife.

On Tuesday, they all experienced their new classes and aspired to be like those in the year above them. We welcomed all our new entrants who will be joining us in September.

On Wednesday, the whole school went on a day out to the Royal Norfolk Show. Here the children were inspired by all that living in this beautiful county can offer.

On Thursday, we held a “Creative Day”. We welcomed an author, Gillian McCLure, who worked with all the children, inspiring them with her picture books. We were also visited by Brian Lewis, a Norfolk artist, who talked about his art. The children in Year 2 have created their own works of art in his style.

In the afternoon, children in Year 1 learnt about the art of burger making with local butcher, James Middleton. A group of year 2 children visited local company “Learning Resources” and found out about product design.

On Friday, it was Sports Day and our aspiring athletes entertained the parents with their sporting skills.

What a busy, but inspiring week. Thank you very much to all our visitors – you were fantastic!
