Class 4 – Crickets 2013-14

Crickets Class Blog 13.6.14

In Maths this week we have been looking at lots of different things. We have been using number bonds to 10 and 20 to help us add up a series of numbers.

We have also been weighing classroom objects by predicting which is the heaviest and measuring their weight using cubes.

Jilly stood up in assembly on Thursday to share her work of tens and units with the rest of the school.

At the beginning of the week in Literacy we wrote a story about an egg hatching. Ellis wrote a story about a dragon coming out of his egg and Tillie’s story had an ostrich hatching from her egg.

We then moved on to looking at the film Shrek and we made character wheels about the main characters. Katelyn’s favourite Shrek character is donkey because he is funny when he goes to Shrek’s house. Rio likes the dragon because she falls in love with donkey!!

We have come to the end of our Castles topic and will be starting something new next week. I wonder what it will be???

In Literacy we have been learning about non-fiction books. We started the week by looking at the difference between non-fiction and fiction by sorting books in our class.

We have labelled a castle. We have matched definitions to their headings. We looked at a non-fiction book about homes.

In Maths we have been practising our number bonds to 10.

Our topic is Castles, Knights and Dragons.

We researched information for homework about our castle groups. We shared the information in our groups and made posters.

We looked at the first castles that were built. They were called Motte and Bailey Castles.

On Friday we visited Castle Rising Castle. It was a bit windy and rainy!!!
