Otters

Otters Class Blog week commencing 21.1.19

This week in maths we have been learning how to find fractions of shapes and numbers.  We learned about ½, ¼, and 1/3s of shapes.  We used this information to help us find fractions of numbers.

In English we have been learning how to write a persuasive piece of writing.  We started out by reading about Aliens making the best pets.  We learned that they are loyal, affectionate and active.  We then wrote a class text giving three different reasons why aliens make good pets.  We stated that they are kind, helpful and are outstanding cooks!

We used this text to do our own boxing up persuading you why you should have different animals as pets.  Some of us chose dogs, lizards, turtles, unicorns or hamsters.  We had to try to persuade you why one of these would make the best pet.

In PE we are making up our own routine to show our different balance skills.  Some of us managed to do a head stand!  In PSHE we have been practising our calm breathing and also working together as a team, being collaborative. Harvey suggested that we made the challenge more complicated by adding a timer to it.  Can your child tell you what they had to do?

In phonics we have been learning about silent letters in some of our words.  How many can you think of?
