Owls 2017-18

Owls Class Blog 20.04.18

We have all had a lovely Easter break and are ready to start our learning again.

‘We have a new topic. It is called, ‘How does your garden grow?’ Wesley

We began our topic at the beginning of the week by learning about Claude Monet.

‘He was a famous painter and he didn’t do brush strokes he done dots/dabs.’ Henry

‘He was one of a group of artists who painted in the same way.’ Aimee-May

‘He was an Impressionist painter.’ Samuel

‘He liked to paint what he could see out of the window.’ Dexter

‘He liked to paint pictures of his garden.’ George

‘He died when he was 86.’ Eshal

We also looked at 2 other artists. Andy Warhol and Georgia O’Keefe. Andy Warhol printed his work and Georgia O’Keefe liked to paint flowers close up and they came off the page.

In Talk for Writing we have started thinking about Defeating the Monster stories. First we thought about stories we already knew.

‘The 3 little pigs is one of these stories.’ Harry

Then some of us had a go at writing our own.

Finley has written his own story about a boy and a cat called Elsa. They went to a museum and saw a dragon skeleton. Elsa the cat scratched the dragon and frightened it away.

In Samuel’s story Black Falcon and his dog, Dog Wonder, had to defeat Professor Brains who was causing mayhem in town.

‘In Maths we have been trying to tell the time to o’clock and half past.’ Wesley

‘If it’s an o’clock time the big hand (minute) stays on the 12. The hour hand moves.’ Tommy

‘If it is half past, the minute hand is on the 6.’ Reece
