Owls 2017-18

Owls Class Blog 22.09.17

On Monday we received a letter from the Troll explaining to us that he was so lonely living under a bridge in Storyland that he felt he needed to find a new home.  He asked us if we could help him so we went off to The Walks to see what we could find.

‘The troll sent us a letter. He said he needs to find a new bridge to live under.’ (Jenson)

‘We were finding bridges for the troll.’ (Henry)

‘We saw lots of different bridges and thought which would be best for the troll. We thought the wooden one.’ (Wesley)

‘We saw a wooden bridge.’(Harry)

‘I think he would like the wooden bridge because he might like the music from the bandstand.’ (Lexie)

‘The water under the bridge was clean. He would like that.’ (Emma)

Finley enjoyed having his lunch. ‘We had picnic.’

William liked going on the playground. ‘I liked playing with Caleb.’

Back in the classroom we have been working hard.

‘We have been telling the story of the 3 Billy Goats Gruff. We drew our own story map to help us.’ (Chloe)

‘We went outside with Mrs Blogg and pretended to be the characters from the story.’ (William)

Ebony and Tommy were narrators for their story. Wesley and Samuel were the troll.

We have also tried making our own bridges for the 3 Billy Goats to cross using resources we found in the classroom.

In our maths we have been looking at number bonds to 10 and 20 using numicon and cubes.

We are all very excited about our new phonics sessions. We are learning all our new sounds (phonemes) through story books. Each day this week the Phonics Fairy has visited our classroom and left us a new book to read. Here is a photograph one of us pretending to be the Phonics Fairy. Can you see that his wings are made out of a book?
