Class 5 – Ladybirds 2015-16

Ladybird Class 18.3.16

This week in maths we have been learning about time using analogue clocks.  We used Katie Morag themed problems that included quarter past, half past,  5 minutes and hours.  We also looked at different time zones around the world and compared them to our time.

In literacy we have been learning how to write and use a set of instructions.  We found out why we use them and why it is important that they are written correctly.  We made sandwiches for the people Grace Darling rescued and then wrote our own set of instructions in literacy.  We also retold the story of Grace Darling and the amazing rescue she carried out.  We learnt how Grace Darling, the daughter of a lighthouse keeper, risked her life to save others when their ship had been wrecked on rocks.

We learnt about Passover in RE and also about other celebrations around the world.  In science we compared timed activities for Year 2 and reception children to see if we improve our skills as we grow older, and recorded the information on a chart.
