Class 1 – Dragonflies 2015-16

Dragonflies’ Class Blog 26.2.16

What an amazing first week back! We love our new topic- Islands and especially loved the ‘stunning start’ day where we visited the islands of New Zealand, Madagascar, and Sicily.
The children made tribal masks, necklaces, vanilla milkshake and pretended to be Madagascan animals.
The children did some artwork using oil pastels and learnt the Hakka is New Zealand.
The children made (and ate!) pizzas, as well as creating exploding volcanos in Sicily.

The children have also been busy with their choosing too.

“I put ice on a tray and it melted!” Lexi told us, reporting back from her experiment. “That’s a physical reaction!” Codey said.

“I like the smell and the taste of the vanilla milkshake” Elsie said.

“I painted a red and white lighthouse” Harry C said. He worked with other children to create our new role play area.

“We made pizza in Italy with cheese and ham and tomato!” Isobel told us.

“I made an island that was sunny and rocky and it had a sealife centre” Chloe told us.

Lots of the children have had the confidence to make new friends and try new things this week. We have had fantastic fun in the forest making assault courses and taking it in turns to balance along!

What a super busy week. We can’t wait for next week- especially world book day!
