Class 5 – Ladybirds 2015-16

Ladybird Class 15.1.16

This week in literacy we have been reading Winnie In Space.  We have used the story to think about what Winnie might take in her picnic basket and we have written lists using commas to separate the items.  We looked at the picture of Winnie’s rocket and made noun phrases which we then extended using adjectives.  Winnie brought back a space rabbit in her rocket, so we thought about exciting story openings to tell the rabbit’s tale.

In maths we have been practising counting backwards from a given number using number lines.  We have also used this method to help us work out how much change we would need at our ‘shop’.

In science we were exploring how shapes changed by squashing, bending, twisting or stretching them.  We tested different items to see if their shape could be changed and discussed whether they could be and why.    In RE we looked at religious symbols and discussed their meaning and how and where they might be used.
