Class 3 – Caterpillars 2014-15

Caterpillars Blog 9.1.15

When we came back after Christmas we noticed that there were pictures in the classroom that showed cold, snowy weather and animals from cold places. We also found some footprints leading to one of the cupboards and when we opened the doors we found a PENGUIN. Poppy said, ‘we had to think of lots of questions to ask the penguin and we then wrote them on a penguin outline’. George said, ‘after playtime he had left us a message on the whiteboard telling us his name was Percy’. Ellie remembers him telling us he is 6 years old. Srivatsa says, ‘he left us some clues in the classroom to answer some of the questions we had asked’.

As part of our new topic ‘Frozen Planet’ we have been designing a front cover in our topic book and Lola has enjoyed painting a penguin picture.

In maths we have been looking at odd and even numbers. Mrs Burt brought in her smelly socks for us to sort into pairs! (They were clean really!!) We had to see how many we could match up and these were the even numbers but some didn’t have a partner and these were the ‘odd’ ones.

On Thursday we had some people from the RSPB come to talk to us in assembly about the Big Bird Watch. We are looking forward to doing lots of different activities with Miss Claxton over the next few weeks.
