Class 3 – Caterpillars 2014-15

Caterpillars Class Blog 14.11.14

Today we have all dressed up as Superheroes because it is Children In Need. We dressed as Spiderman, Batman, Ninja Turtles, Captain America, Iron Man, Super Girl, Flash Lightning and many more.

We have started thinking about the Great Fire of London and have learnt all about Samuel Pepys. Will knows that, ‘Samuel Pepys wore a wig.’ Rinoa has learnt that he, ‘wrote a diary and kept it hidden. He also buried some parmesan cheese in his garden so it didn’t get burnt in the fire.’

image007Samuel Pepys wrote his diary before the fire and he wrote all about the Great Plague. We found out that rats carried the plague and the fleas on the rats passed the disease to humans. Today if we visit London we will not get the plague because the fire came and destroyed the disease and the rats.

image009In Literacy we have been reading the book, ‘Can’t you sleep little bear?’ George says little bear can’t sleep because he is ‘terrified of the dark.’ Is there anything you are afraid of? What about; the dark? Spiders? Fireworks?

We have been naming 3D shapes in Maths and looking at their faces. We worked on a problem solving activity from the Nrich website where we investigated building houses with 7 cubes. These pictures show how we did it.

Why don’t you have a try at home?
