Class 2 – Bumble Bees 2014-15

Bumblebees class blog 16.10.14

We started this week with a visit from ‘Animal experience’. We were able to see and touch some exotic pets such as a snake, a bearded dragon and a meerkat. Have a look on tapestry to see how your child got on.

This week we have been reading the story of Tabby McTat. Oliver said: ‘I painted a cat face. It was like a cat. We put the ears on. We put the nose on and eyes and whiskers.’ Ithalia and Oliver also helped to make a big Tabby McTat model. You can see our Tabby McTat work in the hall.

Grace said: ‘We dressed up as cats and did some singing.’ We also had a dustbin full of spoons, brushes, pans and chopsticks to make lots of music! Shayna and Macie a cat face outside in the forest area.

We have been making loombands. Dulcie, Shayla and Emma all made a loomband bracelet.

We have all been practising holding our pens and writing the letter shapes s,a,t,p,i,n,m,d. We are also learning to read words using sound buttons and blending the sounds together. This week we have introduced i,n,m,d. Colour in the pictures and practice writing the letter shapes at home. You can stick the papers into your learning journal or make your own book of letter shapes to have at home, or stick them on the fridge. Sing the jolly phonics songs and have fun practising forming the letter shapes with pens, paint, in sand or with playdough.

We look forward to our number morning on Friday and our reading café on Monday. We are reading the story ‘Room on the Broom’ and everyone can choose a character from the story and come to school dressed as that character for the day.

We now have the plans for the mud kitchen and we are hoping to draw up a list of resources and arrange a date to start work soon! Watch this space!
