Class 1 – Dragonflies 2014-15

Dragonflies Class Blog – 19th September 2014

All the Dragonflies children have settled happily into school and are quickly picking up the routines and becoming more independent every day.

They have enjoyed exploring the environment, both indoors and outdoors, and lots of exciting learning has been taking place.

Our first child of the week, Owen, made a special request to play on the trikes and go-karts which he remembered from his visit in the summer. Lots of other children have been very keen to join him and have been learning how to pedal backwards, forwards and up and down hill. Our new go-karts are quite tricky to get started but Ava showed everyone else how, “You just have to lie down and relax”.

Taylor particularly enjoyed painting his face and these are now on display in the classroom. Kitty and Nell have been busy every day in the workshop, making robots and spiders amongst other things.

We have all had a chance to play maths games indoors and out. Luke remembered his very original idea of making a number line “from 2 to 10, not 0 to 9” as he re-used the 1 and 0 to make a 10.

We hope parents can make out ‘Meet the Teacher’ meeting next Wednesday at 9am where we will be explaining our new online learning journal “Tapestry” and giving you the chance to ask questions.
